This first event of its kind to be organized by SMK (P) Sri Aman, the Sri Aman Environmental Youth Leadership Summit 2012 (SAEYLS 2012) is organized in line with the school’s vision of becoming a world-class high performance school. This event would serve as a platform to spread environmental awareness and inculcate leadership skills amongst youths from around the globe through interesting and creative approaches.
The (SAEYLS 2012) will assemble youths from all over the world to discuss, share and educate each other on the various ways to a greener and better future. Together, these youths can make a collective and global effort to achieve a common goal as one community with one common aspiration, representing a formidable united force for change. The task of achieving a greener and better future would no longer be shouldered by an individual or a single nation but by an international collaboration of youths and nations. This no doubt would forge and strengthen a long-term bond between the collaborating nations and youths.
An in-depth discussion amongst youths from diametrically different demographic and social backgrounds on ways to create a greener and better future would not only be beneficial in terms of intellectual development, but will also cultivate leadership skills and instill confidence in youths. This would undoubtedly serve them well in the years to come as the youths of today would inevitably find themselves in positions of power and leadership, requiring effective and convincing communication skills.
Aptly themed ‘YOUTHS- Pioneers of Green Transformation’, this event would be able to unearth, hone, and develop the leadership skills and abilities of youths, to enable them to lead the global community of tomorrow to be highly environmentally-conscious as well as embrace environmentally-friendly lifestyles. As leaders of tomorrow, youths can definitely bring about this significant change in the mindset of the global community, and ultimately, improve the quality of life for all of God’s creations.
